Simply Bitcoin Returns ๐Ÿšซ, JPM Calls BTC Hedge ๐Ÿ“Š, France Taxes BTC Swaps ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

YouTube banned Simply Bitcoin and The Bitcoin Conference without giving a reason, proving Bitcoin education lives on rented land.

Greetings Bitcoiner,

Welcome to Issue #682 of Bitcoin Breakdown, where itโ€™s OPSEC Wednesday special, followed by the latest Quick Bits snippets. But first, todayโ€™s Top Stories:

YouTube banned two Bitcoin channels and reinstated one, JPMorgan called bitcoin a speculative hedge against monetary easing while assuming 10% annual returns, and France's National Assembly voted 38 to 37 to tax swaps into stablecoins. Gatekeepers, banks and tax collectors all want a say over your money, which is why self-custody still matters.

๐Ÿšซ YouTube Bans Simply Bitcoin, Then Reinstates It

YouTube banned Simply Bitcoin's 6-year-old channel, then restored it about an hour later, and Simply Bitcoin now points viewers to the Rumble channel where it posts everything. The Bitcoin Conference said YouTube also banned its channel, and its page was loading again the next day with no reinstatement post.

Why it matters: YouTube gave no public reason for either ban, which shows how one gatekeeper can switch off Bitcoin education overnight. A Rumble backup helps, but on Nostr no single entity can ban an identity, so educators should own their audience like their keys. Read moreโ†’

๐Ÿ“Š JPMorgan Sees Bitcoin Topping Stocks and Gold

JPMorgan Asset Management's 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions report assumes a 10% annualized bitcoin return, ahead of 7.5% for large-cap equities and 5.5% for gold. The bank still calls bitcoin a speculative asset and a hedge against monetary easing, and says unstable correlations make it premature to treat BTC as a diversifier.

Why it matters: JPMorgan admits bitcoin tracks global money supply growth, which means the bank sees fiat debasement yet still files hard money under speculation. That hesitation allows savers stacking sats in self-custody to front-run banks waiting for permission from correlations. Read moreโ†’

From Wall Street spreadsheets to a French tax grab...

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท French Assembly Backs Bitcoin Swap Tax by One Vote

France's National Assembly adopted amendment I-3898 by 38 votes to 37, making swaps from Bitcoin and crypto into euro or dollar stablecoins a taxable sale from January 1, 2027. Gains would face France's 31.4% flat tax even without converting to euros, and none of the measures is law yet, with the Senate still to come.

Why it matters: Another amendment would require declaring self-custodial wallets worth โ‚ฌ100,000 or more, which turns your keys into a surveillance list for the French state. Taxing every hop into fiat stablecoins forces savers to pay for moving money, so self-custody and privacy matter more in France. Read moreโ†’

Apple's iOS 27 security notes list three flaws that let an app, or a malicious website, see which apps sit on an iPhone, and a fourth that let an app recognize its user across reinstalls. If one is a wallet or an exchange, the list says one thing: this person holds bitcoin.

Updating does not settle it. Apple's notes, revised on 19 October, show the iOS 26 update fixed only one of the four. On iPhone and Android alike, an app can also ask without any bug.

Which of your apps gives you away? What does hiding one hide? And why can the obvious Android fix route your wallets around your VPN?

This week's OPSEC Feature Article shows you how to find every app that signals Bitcoin, cut the list, and fence off what has to stay.
