This policy covers the Bitcoin Breakdown newsletter and its websites, including bbreakdown.com, btcbreakdown.com and join.bbreakdown.com. Proof of Press LLC, a Wyoming company, publishes them. In this policy, "we" means Proof of Press LLC.
Our readers care about privacy. We collect what we need to send the newsletter and run the business, and little else.
When you subscribe, we collect your email address, the page you signed up from, and any campaign details in the link you followed.
If you take the reader quiz, we use your answers to work out a reader profile. We store that profile with your subscription so we can send you more relevant content.
When you read the newsletter, our email platform records whether you opened an email and which links you clicked. We use this to learn which stories work and to report audience totals.
If you buy a subscription or a product, our payment processor handles the payment. We don't receive your full card number.
When you visit our websites, our hosting and analytics services process standard request data, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you visited and the page that sent you. Our analytics service is designed to count visits without cookies. It uses your IP address to estimate your country, region and city.
If you email us or fill in a form (a sponsor enquiry, for example), we keep what you send so we can reply.
We use this information to:
If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area, our legal bases are your consent (the newsletter), a contract with you (purchases), our legitimate interests (analytics, security and improving the newsletter) and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
We use outside services to run Bitcoin Breakdown. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job:
| Type of service | What it receives |
|---|---|
| Email platform | Your email address, reader profile, signup details, opens and clicks |
| Payment processor | Your payment details |
| Website hosting and content delivery | Standard request data, including your IP address |
| Website analytics | Pages visited, the page that sent you, and your IP address and browser details while a visit is processed |
| Newsletter recommendation network | Your email address, only if you choose to subscribe to a newsletter we recommend |
| Market data, font and script providers | Your IP address, because your browser loads their content directly |
We don't list every provider by name on this page. If you want the current list, email us and we'll send it.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or our readers, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. In a sale, this policy would continue to apply to your data.
After you sign up, we may suggest other newsletters. If you choose to subscribe to one, we pass your email address to that newsletter, and it may pay us for the referral. We share your address only when you ask for that subscription.
We don't sell our subscriber list.
Some links in the newsletter and on our sites are sponsored or affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission. The companies behind those links have their own privacy policies.
We may use advertising cookies to measure our ads on social media platforms. If we do, we'll ask for your consent first where the law requires it, through a cookie notice on our sites. You can refuse or withdraw that consent at any time, and refusing won't stop you reading or subscribing.
Some pages show content from other services, such as live market charts. Those services may set their own cookies or collect data under their own policies. Our newsletter site may use cookies to keep you signed in and to measure its own traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
We keep your subscription data while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep your data for as long as we have a legitimate business reason or a legal duty to keep it. Purchase records stay for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
We take reasonable steps to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that a breach will never happen. If one affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it or delete it. Email naiw@bbreakdown.com. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as the right to object to some uses of your data or to complain to your local data protection regulator.
We're based in the United States, and so are most of our providers. Your data may be processed there or in other countries where they operate.
Bitcoin Breakdown is not for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has subscribed, contact us and we'll remove the subscription.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the newsletter.
